Research has always been an important part of how I work.
In client assignments, that has typically involved evaluation, analysis and the need to reach clear conclusions under pressure. That remains true.
In my own writing, research plays a different role. It’s where my curiosity begins and evolves, following a question far enough to see what it reveals.
Much of my current work focuses on health and the human body and patterns that appear and repeat across very different settings.
What interests me is how these patterns first appear — as small shifts in behaviour, relationships or performance that are easy to overlook at the time.
In practice, this means looking at a wide range of material — published research, data, and observed outcomes — and trying to understand what is already present before it becomes obvious.
I also undertake research-based projects and collaborations where there is a good fit.
