I have always written.

My commercial writing includes reports, marketing copy, ghostwritten articles, briefs, proposals and policy documents. Long may that continue. It keeps the lights on.

My non-commercial work is different. It's where I follow my own interests, without constraint.

More recently, that has focused on democratic erosion as well as aging, and the messages the body sends us, so often subtle and easy to overlook, like the patterns of democratic erosion, seemingly benign, present long before they are fully understood.

What interests me is how the same kinds of signals appear elsewhere, in different contexts, and how they tend to follow a similar course, often becoming clear only over time.
